New to Avon?

We can’t wait to meet you.

Your presence, experiences, and voice are a beautiful addition to our community.

Before you visit, here’s what you can expect.

A Typical Sunday

Whether we are indoors or outdoors there will always be someone there to greet you and direct you to the Family-programs, washrooms, or whatever else you need help finding.

You and your family are welcome to bring anything that will make you feel more comfortable. You belong here exactly as you are, and with whatever you need to feel at home.

A typical gathering is an hour long. +Discussion.

We usually begin with some worship music, followed by a short message. This could be by one of our Pastors, a member of our community or a guest speaker. We hope that each teaching time leaves you feeling encouraged & challenged to look at the world a little differently.

Usually after the message we offer the opportunity, for anyone interested, to gather in a small group to share thoughts about the message and what’s going on in our lives. You are also welcome to head out at this point. No pressure to stay! During the summer months we have a more casual time of connection instead of the discussion groups.

Tithing, is just a fancy word meaning to contribute. This is an opportunity for people to contribute financially to the ministry of Avon and the work we do in our city and with our partners around the world. Instead of passing a basket around, there will be a place to leave your offering near the door you entered. There is never an obligation to give.

At the start of the message, our MC will dismiss K-5 children and Nursery-aged kids for their age-appropriate program run by trained and vetted volunteers. Parents are welcome to walk with them or send them on their own with the teacher.

Come as You Are.

We don't care how you dress, what your background is, who you vote for, what your theology is or whether you've ever heard of the word theology.
You are welcome here. The real you.
We're not into pretending or acting like we have all our stuff together. We don't have all the answers. What you'll find here is a God and a community we can all be authentic with.

Music at Avon

We are very fortunate to have many talented musicians in our congregation.

Sometimes we have a full band leading us with various instruments like guitars, bass, drums, piano, violin, flute, trombone...
And sometimes it’s just the guitar and us.

We have a number of gifted music leaders on a rotation meaning each Sunday of the month we have a different leader who brings their own "flavour". We like that our worship is a little different each week as we value diversity at Avon. We sing hymns, modern praise songs, and everything in between.

We want everyone to be comfortable to worship in their own way. So feel free to stand up, move to the music, sing along or sit and listen if you prefer.

Young Families

Your children belong here. Exactly as they are.

Let your kids be kids. We don’t mind if children colour or sit on the floor during the service. Most parents bring along colouring books and small toys for their kids, so feel free to do the same.

During the message, children K-gr.5 are invited to join in an interactive, fun-filled program that they will love! We also offer a Nursery for children pre-k and under during the message and discussion time. Our volunteers are amazing at empowering each student to share the voice God has given them.

Gr.6-12 Students?

They belong here too. Avon Youth meets every Tuesday from 7pm-9pm for students in grades 6-12. There’s plenty of hangout time, games and activities & age-appropriate lessons & discussion.

Our students can also form a Discussion Group on Sunday mornings.
